Scraffles Pays Dearly
Pearl Nesbit
"He loved playing in the street." said Deena Gomez of San Antonio. She is talking about her neighbor's Chihuahua "Scraffles" who was found dead in the street yesterday afternoon. "When the cars would pass he would dart out and bark like crazy". Scraffles also barked at passing bikes and pedestrians. "He was an annoying little [profanity deleted]. He acted like he owned that part of the road." said Murray Toller another neighbor. "He'd run out and disappear from view. I'd always wait to hear the tell-tale thump, but all I could ever hear was his [blasphemy deleted] barking."
The contentious canine belonged to Irma and Ozvaldo Cantu. They could not be reached for comment, or to claim what remained of Scraffles.
"He must have gotten a bit too close." said Toller, smiling.
