All my cars

“To all the cars I've owned before / Which I drove and drove some more
I'm glad they came along / I dedicate this song
To all the cars I've owned before

To all the cars I once enjoyed / That helped me stay employed
They helped me get around, A lot of joy was found
In all the cars I've owned before

But the winds of change are always blowing
From time to time I drove them fast
The winds of change continued blowing
And I tried so hard to make ‘em last”

Okay so here is a list of all the cars I’ve owned over the years!

1966 Pontiac Catalina. My first car. I loved that car. Sadly, I wrecked into a parked pickup truck totaling it.

1979 Pontiac Safari station wagon. Was acquired by my dad on my behalf after I stupidly destroyed my Catalina!

1990 Mercury Topaz. Brand new car. Drove it fresh off the lot. The thing served me well for a while. Eventually the AC stopped working and so did the windows. When I got a “new” car, Chris “borrowed” it and I never saw it again. What exactly ever happened to it I cannot say. In 1995 me John and Catherine took an epic road trip in it. We went to Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Went to Graceland, visited a couple battlefields, saw the home of the blues, etc. one of the greatest road trips I’ve ever had!

1995 Dodge Intrepid. This car is the one I was driving when I met Izzy. Had some great times in that car!! It eventually started running bad and I dropped a bundle on it at a dealership. It never got fixed. Finally sold it to a guy for $500.

2000 Ford Ranger. Went through a lot with this truck. It was my daily driver when I got married. It served! I once t-boned a Cadillac in this (it still ran). It was the other person’s fault but they had no insurance. Eventually passed it along to Carol who destroyed it.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. A great vehicle! Runs like a top. Problem is, on April 9, 2019 a drunk driver plowed into it while it was parked in front of my house. The person hit and run. Nothing came of it.

My next vehicle ?

My “trick” for falling asleep

So on the nights when I can’t fall asleep I use a special “trick”. It’s pretty straightforward, but it works each and every time I use it. Without fail!!

I simply imagine that I am floating, flying rather slowly about 75 feet above the ground. All around me is a beautiful day. Not hot - not cold. So I’m just sort of floating.. and I’m floating past these large numbers. They look like they could be small buildings. But what they are, are numbers. The “buildings” are shaped like numbers... And I’m floating past them. First one to my left, next one to my right...

1... 2... 3... 4... 5...

And so on and on and on... I just keep floating/drifting past these numbers until I fall asleep. I got all the way up to 50 once. Most of the time 25 is about as high as I go.

Try it. It will work for you!!

Blissfully Random Photos vol. 2

Found online. Swamp cabin...

Sundown view outside of Ingram mall. The transition from orange on the horizon up to blue is very nice.

This random tiny bird dropping looks kinda like a demon face... it was on my new bike.

This kid’s hair was made to look like a donut...

This is my Lion logo.

Hey, where’s the Easter bunny?? (Photo taken at “Wonderland of the Americas” mall)

Ever heard of this book? Me either. But I want it!!!

This coat and purse on a coat rack in the corner of our bedroom spooked me a bit. It looked like a creepy hooded figure leering at me.

My son took this picture of a classic car one day.

Nick “the stick” asleep in our neighbor’s yard.

Blood droplet on my wind shield. Where’d it come from?

This made me sad. The person who wrote a description on a bunch of books put this on “narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass”. One of the most important books in American history. How soon we forget.

I drew it... elephant and piggie by Mo Willems. Left it in Hargrave’s kinder class.

A mural in downtown San Antonio. It is adjacent to the Bexar County Courthouse.

I drew this for a kid. He colored it. Apparently it is a Pokémon character.

Another random face. This is a towel on the bathroom floor. Looks kind of like a face of some kind.

Francis McDormand got all dolled up for her Oscar 2021 appearance. $5 haircut, no makeup.. Looks like a looney.

Came in to work one day. This display met my gaze in the break room. Okay... Don’t mind if I do.

Got to Alva Jo for the first time in 25 + years. Lights went out. No problem.

Idiot liberals decided my high school’s mascot was bad. So, he was outlawed. Well here he is. He’s not bad. He’s mad. The mad Rebel.

 The End (for now...)

Ear”mask”ulation

So we’re wearing these frikkin masks all the time now! Boy ain’t it grand? A whole book could be written about the good, the bad, and the ugly of wearing masks. Well here’s an example of the ugly. Some people don’t understand that the mask can be adjusted to fit their heads. Here’s a fellow I spotted at Bill Miller’s BBQ standing there in line. His ear is being annihilated by that mask!! He seemed oblivious, which, to me, is remarkable. Welcome to 2021!

“Deathlayer” chicken

Look here are some baby chickens. These are called DEATHLAYER chickens. Yes, DEATH LAYER. Apparently they lay eggs for the duration of their lives. I never have heard of such a thing. Have you?

Here is what a fully grown DEATHLAYER chicken looks like...
