This is a book series by Barry Sadler. It is awesome! The first book is amazing. Sadler basically took the legend of the Wandering (Eternal) Jew. In this case Casca is the centurion who pierced Jesus' side during the crucifixion. Jesus then tells him that the centurion will not die until he returns. This means Casca cannot die. Even though he feels the pain and dies in a fashion, he does not ever die, no matter how bad the wound. It is an awesome book (series).
Read book #1 for yourself:
